Business Ethics and Management

Question: Write an essay on Business Ethics and Management. Answer: According to the case study, Olympus Crop was the major corporations, which were created the Hotlines to measure their ethical issues rising in their organization. According to the published details in The Wall Street Journal, the company started a panel for monitoring the wrong doings in the organization, which showed that, there were two executives who were the in charges of the company hotline and they were also purportedly behind the suppression of 15 billion dollars in company losses. Another issue was that, the company is facing a stuffy atmosphere that was suppressing the employees from expressing their problems to the top management. One employee was transferred to less valuable post for his complain through the Hotline. In addition to this, at the first stage of the Hotline system the executive was decided to be a external person for the security purpose but the manager opposed that issue (Miceli et al.,2013). The employees of any organization may feel uncomfortable while expressing their views or problems about the wrong doings within the organization, if the powers of controlling the compliances are handled by the internal employees. As an employee of any company, the suggestion may be submitted to the higher authority to handle the Hotline system by some external person. This issue is concerned, as the employees of that particular organization may be biased by the higher authority of the organization, as an example the above mentioned issues took place for this reason only. One unethical or unlawful issue is enough for destroying the image and goodwill of any company. The following principle may be helpful for resolving the ethical issues: The dealing with the customer, supplier and employees must be honest and committed. The avoidance of manipulation and unfair dealings the ethical issue should be maintained. Avoidance of situation which forces one to compromise the independent business judgment can readily deduces the generation of unethical issues. Making of candid reports on the management reveals the exact happenings in the sector of accounting and finance departments. Protection of proprietary information is the essential part of ethical code of conduct. The information about the company, customers and employees should not be divulged(Gurzawska Brey, 2015).
